What Dallas County Police Records Show

Dallas County arrest records include the suspect's name or description, the alleged offense, the magistrate's signature, booking date and time, physical description, mugshot, charges, bond amount, and court assignment. There is a difference between arrest records and arrest reports. Arrest records are summary documents used for tracking. Arrest reports are detailed narratives written by the officer that describe the events leading to the arrest, the officer's actions, and the legal basis.

Inmate records contain booking information, personal identification details, current charges and case numbers, custody status and housing location, bond and bail information, court dates, projected release dates, and disciplinary records. Court records show case filings, motions, orders, judgments, and hearing schedules.

Mugshots are not displayed on the public Dallas County Jail lookup system. You need to make a formal request. Juvenile records for anyone under 17 are confidential under Texas law. Expunged or sealed records will not show up in public searches per the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 55.

Note: The Sheriff's Office may withhold information under Texas Government Code Section 552.108 if release would interfere with an active investigation.
